inventory of after market parts from Drag Specialties, Custom
Chrome and Kuryakyn for your Harley in the area. We are always expanding our inventory

in between the liquor store and the gun shop.

Extended Warranty
If you have an extended
warranty you do not need to take your Harley to a dealership for warranty repairs we can
now handle it here at The Bike Doctor.

Service and Repairs
We are currently booking appointments about a
week out. Quality service and repair is still our priority not
volume. We have a limited amount of openings and do our best
trying to help everyone. If you are getting close to needing a
service or tire change please call and schedule an appointment. Or
just stop by and see us.


We are proud to announce
that we are now a certified S&S Sidewinder and VFI Service
Center. We have completed the week long course offered in La
Crosse , Wisconsin at the S&S training and certification facility.
We have knowledge of all S&S motors and products.

We are an Approved
Dyno Jet Tuning Center. We offer Dyno runs and Dyno tuning on
carbureted and fuel injected Harleys. We have the top of the line
Dynojet 250i in our service area with an experienced MMI ,S&S and
Dyno Jet certified operator.
We use the top of the line
tuning link software to provide advanced tuning techniques. To
optimize power we tune each cylinder separately with results
showing tunes from front to rear cylinder are within 1 half horse
power and 1 half pound of torque. This provides maximum power
output, a crisp clean,
smooth acceleration through out the power band and reduces or
eliminates decel pop all together.



Tech Tip
What is a stage one
performance upgrade and what will it do for my bike?
Due to EPA requirements on manufacturers the engine is
extremely restricted. So the stage one improvement removes the
restrictions.
How, reminds me of one of my favorite watering holes in
Myrtle Beach the Suck - Bang - Blow.
1. Imagine your motor is breathing through a straw so first we
remove the restrictive air cleaner and toss it. We install a free
flow air filter like the Big Suck from Arlen Ness. This allows the
motor to take in more air. (Suck)
2.
Now that your motor is breathing like a champ we have created very
lean fuel state (not enough gas for all the air). We correct this
on fuel injected models with a power commander. This will tell the
ECM to inject more gas. On carbureted models we recalibrate the
carb to give more gas. (Bang)
3. We now have to give freedom to the back end to expel the burnt
fuel mixture. (Exhaust) We do this by replacing
the stock exhaust with less restrictive set which
normally is accompanied by a better quality sound also. (Blow)
Now that we have increased the Suck the Bang and the Blow,
(Besides not sounding like a Volkswagen) we have increased
throttle response and depending on the choices of air filters and
exhaust on average we have also gained about 14% increase in
HORSEPOWER.


Baker Plus 1 Oil Pan
As we know keeping an an
air cooled motor cool is important for the life of the
engine. Baker has made that a little easier with the Baker plus
one oil pan.
This oil pan is great
especially addressing the heat generated by Harley's 96 ci motors.
One customer reported a 15 to 20 degree reduction in oil
temperature on his stock 2008 FLHTCU.
The Baker plus 1 cast
models retails for $499. and takes about 3 hours to install.
Following are pictures of a Baker+1 being installed on a 2006
Street Glide
As you can see with the
side by side pictures the Baker+1 eliminates the plastic baffle
system used in the stock Harley oil pan.

Stage Two Upgrade
We are going to do a stage 2 upgrade to a 2006 Street Glide. We
had our machine work done at T-Man Performance. We sent our heads
and cylinders in for rework. T-Man Performance upgraded our heads
with larger valves and porting the intake and exhaust ports. Our
cylinders were bored and honed to accept a set of Wisco 95 ci
10.5:1 pistons.
Our stage 2 upgrade consisted of Wisco pistons and rings, Fueling
cam plate, Fueling oil pump, Fueling lifters, S&S 585 gear drive
cams, S&S adjustable pushrods.
After
getting the bike on the lift we went right to work gaining access
to the cam plate.
Next we removed the cam
plate assembly. You can also see a good picture of the stock chain
drive gear set.
We installed new cam
bearings in the motor and then began assembling the Fueling cam
plate. We installed new cam bearings and pressed in the S&S 585
cams. That was followed with loose fitting the Fueling oil pump.
We installed our cam plate
and gear drive set after measuring our gear lash we had to go with
an oversize pinion gear. You can see a big difference from the
stock chain drive to the improved gear drive.

Performance.
Sorry about the lack
of photo's from here on we got a little excited about completing
the project. Here we preinstalled our pistons into the cylinders
for installation on the motor.
The Fueling cam plate
increases engine oil flow to the pinion shaft and rod bearings
which decreases oil temperature. The Fueling oil pump increases
pressure volume by 40% and 60% increase in scavenge volume over
stock. The fueling roller tappets allow more oil to the top of the
motor. S&S gear drive cam set along with the increased lift an
duration it increases timing accuracy. All these components will
increase horsepower and at the same increase reliability over
stock.
We took the bike on a break
in ride after reloading the Power Commander soft ware. For 75
miles we varied the speed and not exceeding 2500 rpm. For the next
425 miles we will not exceed 3000 rpm. At 500 miles we will
replace the oil and filter and then we will dyno tune by advance
mapping our power commander. Once tuned we will dyno run the bike
to see what our performance gain was.

This months feature bike is a 2009
Road King belonging to Steve Fantau, hearing black is the new
chrome and wanting to ride more than detailing. Steve decided to
black out his King. We tore it down and sent 32 pieces to the
powder coaters for the black make over. As you can see she is
awesome.
